Vizhinjam International Seaport anticipates third ship arrival on November 27
The Adani Group plays a pivotal role as the private partner in this venture.
Vizhinjam International Seaport, located near the capital of Kerala, is poised for its third ship arrival on November 27, according to sources from the port.
The incoming vessel, "Zhen Hua 24," is set to deliver six-yard cranes, marking a significant development just a month after the grand inauguration of the deep-sea international port.
Following suit, the second ship, "Zhen Hua 29," which arrived earlier this month carrying cranes, is scheduled to depart for Mundra Port in Gujarat today at 2 PM, as per port sources.
The pioneering ship to dock at the port was "Zhen Hua 15," transporting two-yard cranes and a ship-to-shore crane for the deep-water facility. The ongoing construction of the Vizhinjam port, with a budget of Rs 7,700 crore, operates under the public-private partnership model.
The Adani Group plays a pivotal role as the private partner in this venture, contributing to the development of what is anticipated to be one of the world's largest ports upon completion. Originally scheduled for commissioning in 2019, the project faced delays attributed to challenges in land acquisition.
Notably, the construction process encountered resistance from local fishermen, leading to violent protests. Fishermen expressed concerns that the port's establishment would adversely impact their livelihoods.
Despite these challenges, the Vizhinjam International Seaport project is moving forward, and the imminent arrival of "Zhen Hua 24" signals continued progress in transforming this port into a key player in international maritime trade.
