PM Modi to launch six new Vande Bharat trains, expanding fleet and connectivity
The new trains are being introduced under a broad strategy for updating the rail infrastructural component and the quality of service across India.
New Vande Bharat Express: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off six new Vande Bharat trains on Sunday at Tatanagar Junction Railway Station. The addition will significantly expand the size of India's modern rail network with improved connectivity, enhanced safety, and passenger facilities across the country.
Vande Bharat Fleet, Coverage Expansion
The addition of these six trains will make the Vande Bharat fleet strength climb from 54 to 60, carrying a collective 120 daily trips over more than 280 districts in 24 states and union territories. The new ones cover the following:
Tatanagar-Patna
Brahmapur-Tatanagar
Rourkela-Howrah
Deoghar-Varanasi
Bhagalpur-Howrah
Gaya-Howrah
Designed under the scheme 'Make in India, the Vande Bharat trains boast of world-class onboard amenities such as fast acceleration, Kavach safety system, an anti-virus system, and WiFi. After being designed to travel at breakneck speed of up to 160 kmph, the semi-high-speed trains are sure to set new benchmarks for luxurious travel efficiency.
The Vande Bharat portfolio is ever-expanding with more and more train services being introduced for better connectivity," said the Railway Ministry. Now, traveling standards are going to change, as this reflects the ambition of the nation for a modern and world-class railway.
Since its very first Vande Bharat train rolled off the production line on February 15, 2019, the fleet has completed around 36,000 trips and carried more than 3.17 crore passengers. The original Vande Bharat train set has since morphed into Vande Bharat 2.0 with enhanced features and capabilities.
Indian Railways is therefore taking advantage of such breakthroughs to showcase its excellence in rail transportation around the world, providing comfort and efficiency for its passengers. As this network expands, Vande Bharat Express shall without a doubt redefine the future of train travel
