Jainam and Jivika are Dubai-based siblings or the owners of the domain jiohotstar.com. They have recently decided to transfer it to Reliance "free of cost".

What Is The Sibling Story?

The sibling duo attracted a lot of attention on social media platforms recently but have now transferred the domain name to Reliance with "seva and kindness."

According to the duo, their journey started out as "a simple act of kindness to help a young developer from Delhi chase his dreams."

Their announcement on the website jiohotstar.com, further added that they had been approached by the Reliance IP legal team and that they would be transferring the domain to them free of cost, dispelling any online rumours saying that there has been a deal or payment that is involved.

"Just as we said in our last video, there is no pressure from anyone, and there is no deal of any kind," the siblings' statement said on the website.

They also added, whether or not Reliance chooses to use it, is up to them.

The domain transfer will happen only after the agreement is signed and Reliance has asked the sibling duo to visit Mumbai to sign the agreement.

Background

The website ID was reportedly registered by an app-developer based out of Delhi, who did this amid potential merger speculations between Jio and Hotstar, earlier.

The siblings, in their previous message confirmed that they had received some genuine offers offering significant amounts, but they said that the website was not for sale.

Reliance's merger with Disney happened last week, forming a joint venture, which will be led by Nita Ambani as Chairperson. This joint venture is approximately worth Rs 70,352 crore or $8.5 billion.
