In a major announcement today, Co-Founder and CEO of Ola Cabs, Bhavish Aggarwal has revealed that the firm has entered the growing market of quick food delivery through the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) platform.

Bhavish Aggarwal took to posting on the social media platform X, and said, "Yep, taking our @Olacabs commitment to @ONDC_Official to the next level! Scaling food and other categories across India today. Including 10min food.”

He added that ONDC is the future of commerce. The network is a government-backed initiative that promotes open networks for the exchange of goods and services over digital networks.

Currently, the firm offers food and beverage services through the ONDC platform only in a limited number of cities. The company also offers last-mile logistics services for grocery and pharmaceuticals.

The quick commerce platform Zepto had also announced earlier this week that it is planning to launch an application called Zepto Cafe.

Ola will now be competing with quick-commerce platforms like Zepto, Swiggy and Blinkit.

The company was present in the food delivery space back in 2020, and is entering the market again, therefore all eyes are going to be on whether or not it succeeds this time around.
