Google partners with Foxconn to manufacture Pixel phones in India: Report

Google Pixel to be made in India: Alphabet's Google is set to produce its Pixel smartphones in Tamil Nadu in collaboration with Taiwan's Foxconn, according to two sources familiar with the matter.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, one of the sources revealed, "It will be making the latest models of its smartphones in the state... at the existing Foxconn facility (in Tamil Nadu)."

Foxconn, renowned for assembling Apple's iPhones at a facility near Chennai, will now extend its manufacturing capabilities to include Google's Pixel smartphones.

Amid escalating geopolitical tensions between Beijing and Washington, major global manufacturers are actively seeking to diversify their supply chains beyond China, with India emerging as a viable alternative.

The decision to invest in Tamil Nadu follows discussions between state officials and Google executives, indicating a strategic move towards expanding manufacturing operations within the region.

While details remain scarce, the investment in Tamil Nadu is distinct from the reported collaboration between Dixon and Google to produce smartphones in India, as mentioned by the source.
