BHEL bags Rs 11,000 crore order for three supercritical power projects from Adani Power
Under the contract, BHEL will supply the entire range of equipment, starting from Boilers and Turbines to Generators and their associated auxiliaries.
BHEL Adani Power contract 2024: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited has won an enormous contract worth more than Rs 11,000 crore (exclusive of GST) that Adani Power Limited and its subsidiary, Mahan Energen Limited, issued for the execution of three Supercritical Thermal Power projects.
The August 25 contract involves the supply of critical equipment and supervision of the erection and commissioning job of three major power projects of 2x800 MW each, based on super-advanced Supercritical Technology. The locations would be Kawai Phase-II and Kawai Phase-III in Rajasthan and Mahan Phase-III in Madhya Pradesh.
Under the contract, BHEL will supply the entire range of equipment, starting from Boilers and Turbines to Generators and their associated auxiliaries. Also, it would provide the control and instrumentation systems. Installation and commissioning of these systems would be the company's responsibility, and the projects would be in compliance with all operational and performance standards.
These are to be completed by different time schedules at different locations. The Kawai Phase-II is to be completed within 49 months, Kawai Phase-III within 52 months, and Mahan Phase-III within 55 months. These timelines signify not just the magnitude and complexity of the projects but also that BHEL is going to deliver them within that mandatory period.
The contracts were put forth by Adani Power Limited and Mahan Energen Limited, being Domestic Entities. Notably, there is no involvement of any promoter or group companies having stakes in the awarding entities, and then the contracts were executed on an arm-length basis without coming under related party transactions.
This contract is another important milestone for BHEL, coming close on the heels of the major orders it received recently in Yemen and setting to further consolidate its market leadership position in the Indian power sector and capability in handling large-scale, complex projects.
