Tata Motors sees dip in August 2024 sales, CV category takes major hit

While Tata Motors overall sales stood at 70,006 units, down from 76,261 in August 2023, the CV category took a major hit with a dip of 15 per cent.

Tata Motors has announced its sales in August 2024 have plummeted when compared to the same month last year. The leading automobile company reported negative sales across segments, including passenger vehicle (PV) and commercial vehicle (CV) categories. While the overall sales stood at 70,006 units, significantly down from 76,261 in August 2023, the CV category took a major hit with a dip of around 15 per cent year-over-year.

Tata Motors CV Sales August 2024

Compared to 32,077 vehicles in August last year, Tata Motors’ CV vehicles sold 27,202 units the past month. The CV Domestic sub-category saw the biggest downturn of 16 per cent YoY, selling 25,864 units compared to 30,748 last year. The company reported the domestic sales of MH&ICV in August 2024, including trucks and buses, stood at 12,008 – down from 13,506 the same time last year. The exports also dipped, recording the sale of 12,708 units at the end of the month, while it was 14,016 units in August 2023.

Tata Motors PV Sales August 2024

While the passenger vehicle category performed better than the CV segment, Tata Motors lost a major chunk of sales when compared to its performance last year. The company recorded PV sales at 44,142 units, representing a decline of 3.01 per cent YoY from 45,513 units in 2023. The month-over-month (MoM) sales saw a dip of 1.30 per cent as Tata Motors rolled out 44,725 units in July 2024. The export sales also fell by 18 per cent to 344 units from 420 units last year in August. The figure for overall sales, including the company’s electric vehicle lineup, is 44,486 units – a decline of 3 per cent from 45,993 units sold in August last year.
