JSW MG Motor retail sales drop 8% to 4,588 units in September 2024

MG sales in September 2024: JSW MG Motor India on Tuesday reported that the company witnessed an 8 per cent decline in retail sales at 4,588 units in September on a year-on-year basis.

The auto manufacturer had recorded total sales of 5,003 units in the same month last year.

According to a statement from the company, it stated that new energy vehicles (NEVs) contribute significantly to the manufacturer’s total sales, which accounted for 49 per cent of the sales last month.

The company also highlighted that it will move to the Vaahan Portal in October 2024.

While the company has consistently reported its retail sales numbers since the commencement of its India operations, the move to Vaahan is a natural consequence of the maturation and consistency of these numbers over time, it said.

MG Motors India highlighted that the automobile industry is facing some challenges on the sales front due to the inauspicious period of Shradh and an extended monsoon.

However, with the start of the festive season, the auto manufacturer is optimistic about positive traction in the market and a rise in footfalls at its dealerships, it added.

Recently, MG Motors launched the Windsor EV in the market with a new initiative of Battery-as-a-service. The Windsor EV starts at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom) with a battery rental of Rs 3.5 per kilometre. This initiative is now present on all the electric vehicles available at MG Motors. The Comet EV has a battery rental of Rs 2.5 per kilometre and starts at Rs 4.98 lakh (ex-showroom) and the ZS EV has a battery rental of Rs 4.5 per kilometre and starts at Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Windsor EV is powered by a 38kWh battery pack and has a claimed range of 331 kilometres on a single charge. The company also provides lifetime warranty on the battery. It offers features such as panoramic moonroof, 135-degree reclining seats at the rear, 15.6-inch infotainment screen, etc.
