Honda Cars recalls vehicles in India over faulty fuel pump, affects 92,000 old and new cars
Honda Cars India issued a recall of its 90,468 cars to replace a faulty fuel pump in India. The affected models were produced September 2017 to June 2018.
Recall by Honda Cars: Honda Cars India issued a voluntary recall of its 90,468 cars to replace a faulty fuel pump in India. As per the auto manufacturer, the fuel pumps that were installed in the affected vehicles may contain defective impellers. As a result, these defective fuel pumps could result in the engine stopping or not cranking.
According to Honda Cars' campaign, it will also cover 2,204 older vehicles that have already had this part changed as a spare. The recall campaign from Honda Cars consists of all the major models new and discontinued. This recall's impacted vehicles were manufactured between September 2017 and June 2018.
What is a faulty fuel pump?
A fuel pump is a car’s critical element, which pumps fuel from the fuel tank into the engine. A faulty fuel pump in the vehicle can lead to several issues. It can lead to difficulty in starting, misfiring in the engine, decrease in fuel efficiency, and high engine temperature may result in stalling.
Beginning of the replacement and cost:
As per the company, all the replacements of the concerned parts will be carried out at the Honda Cars India dealerships across India. The customers will not be charged any cost for the replacement. The recall campaign will begin on November 5, 2024, in a phased manner. All the owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted directly by the company.
Which models are affected:
18,851 units of Amaze, 4,386 units of BR-V, 3,317 units of Brio, 16,744 units of Jazz, 32,872 units of City, and 14,298 units of WR-V are among the units, which are impacted by this recall. Furthermore, this recall applies to 2,204 vehicles, including the Amaze, Accord, Brio, City, Civic, Jazz, BR-V, and WR-V, whose gasoline pumps have previously been changed as spare parts.
How can the customers check about the recall:
All the customers can check whether their vehicle is part of a recall campaign or not by entering their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on Honda’s website. The VIN is a 17-character code. Further, customers who may have bought the fuel pump assembly from the authorised dealerships between June 2017 to October 2023 through over-the-counter sales, also may check about the recall details of their vehicle through the Honda Cars dealership.
